Call Them Angels

Teaching is a calling not a profession,
Don't mistake this for a chicken and egg question
Thus the need to recall kindergarten experiences.
Do you recall who used to wipe your flooded rivers
When you were poor as church mice,
All you could do was mud play and handshake.
Potholes were all over since saliva was an eraser,
All games were good and girls were sisters,
All you knew were aunts uncles not even admirers,
Maybe you were an angel and the devil was away.
Despite all, they always cared for you,
They helped you utter vowels , write and read
They taught you to pray and wanted you be gold
And they believed in you though you were nothing.
