I Am Sure It Didn't Hurt

I am sure it didn't hurt
When I said my time was long gone
I was glad that even as we decided to part
Nothing was shattered, not a heart, not a bone

I am sure it didn't hurt
I could see your glistening eyes wet
Overwhelmed by the saturation, was a flow of joyful tears
My courtesy act to dry even a drop I couldn't be let
For sure I was that plague you dreaded for years

I am sure it didn't hurt
When no more could you tolerate my touch
And loose you let your palm from my firm grip
Shoved me away and made me pensively watch
As you trudged away, savagely I anticipated you'd trip

I am sure it didn't hurt
But wait! Did you just stop on your tracks, turn back
And said that its me you still love and wonder why my change was drastic and sadistic
That hit hard and caused the core of my heart to crack
Though deep was a conviction that it was sarcastic

And I'm sure it didn't hurt
