I miss the village
Where children play naked and there is no big deal
Where children are sent to fetch water from the river
Where children play with polythene papers wrapped together in the name of a ball
The village in which everybody is ones friend
I miss the village
The village in which people borrow each other everything
Yeah everything inclusive of the common salt
The village in which there is only one television in the area
Where people crowd in the place as if it is a common room
I miss the village
The village in which there are quarrels each new dawn
But at dusk those who quarrels meet and laugh together again
The village in which disputes are settled by the village elders
The village in which there is shading of blood to appease the dead
I miss the village
The village in which at dusk children surround the grandparents
The village in which fire is lit at dusk
Yeah at dusk to commence story telling
The village in which children sleep with there grandparents
I miss the village
Where village elders are the priests
The village in which there are no churches but shrines
Lastly I miss the village life where sharing of clothes was a norm
I miss walking to school barefooted
I miss communicating in my mother tongue
Now I'm in town where children are always in diapers
In town where children play with toys
In town where each person sees the other as a stranger
I'm in a place where children are driven to school
I'm in town where grandparents no Longer exists
A place where water is available in the house
A place where there are no rivers to fetch waters
A place where there are no good neighbours at all
A place where each new person is another's worst enemy
I'm in town where there are no cattles to graze
A place where no food is grown but bought
A place where you can't have anything unless you have money
I miss the village and it's all environment
