its by God's Grace
(Story by Tracy Nafula)
It all started when dad would drink like a fish,
Maybe binge drinking best describes his state,
Our pleas were in vain,
It was now true that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink,
And at last he ate the cow instead of drinking the milk.
The whole family turned to a bundles of nerves,
And the ball park figure was no where to be seen
Our dreams were turned to blank cheques
Our names from better to worse,
From clothes to rags,
And that was the beginning of living a dog's life.
Time had come to rejuvenate,
Maybe being the pace setter I had to undergo metamorphosis,
It dawned to me that a drowning man will always clutch to a straw
And it was time to act than sit down and wait,
I had to inspire myself just before I could expire,
And the events turned to be a list as long as your arm,
Mama once told me that a man is as old as he feels
And age is never a limit but just a number,
And it's now true that a flower blooms more than once,
But all this long I couldn't make it on my own,
Yeah my own without God's favour and Grace.
