The Mother Cried

THE MOTHER CRIED

She watched with teary eyes
As the children she bore suffered
She thought labour pains were so much
Now the pain in her children's eyes is more
She hopes one will come to rescue.

Memories of her good times are pain
For she once enjoyed prosperity
But now; poverty knocks at her door
Her own children have robbed her dry
Those that saw themselves as more equal

The day she was declared
Given a name, shape and a place to be
Every soul filled with joy, on all faces bright smiles
Her name sang across mountains and ridges
She once had a future for her child
Today not even her past is worth looking at
Silent tears rolling down her beautiful chick
As she watch and wait to succumb
Her children won't come to her rescue

Maybe the children need a rod
That which she spared them
Or they need a whip once more
That which was delivered by the whiteman
But that won't work good
Nature may work best
To deliver judgment to her children
But the same nature is destroyed.

Science has replaced conscience
Too much capitalism in the capital
Children at war all time
Each to get a bigger share
The children of the same mother
No Longer dine and wine at the same table
Segregation and oppression in within
They belong to the same mother
But some are of a lesser god.
