I wanted to be a realist,
Fantasy was way too deep,
More calm and serene,
I wanted to be an idealist,
Have an ideal life,
With a focused mind.
I wanted them to see me,
See within,
For who I really was,
Past all the flaws, imperfections,
All the perfections,
Is it wrong that I wanted reality,
All I needed was for them to be real.
As a young girl,
Life was all about simplicity,
All barbie and dolled up,
Worrying about a non-existant kingdom,
Longing for my prince charming,
Wasn't that what fantasy gave me?
A beautiful home,
A safe place for my dreams.
I felt them slip away,
More of snatched away,
I didn't want to let them go,
Lust took innocence,
Darkness reigned over the kingdom,
And away it went with my dreams,
I wish someone had told me,
Tell me about the sinister cloud,
That swept away all happiness .
Long list of friends,
Now just a part of my own world,
Satisfaction from within,
Lifted high up,
By my own ambitions,
Little grown up princess,
Fighting the odds,
Now a Queen,
Chin up with that crown on her head,
She don't need no king though,
She got herself.
